👋 Hi, Sabir here. Welcome to this week’s issue of Chino - simplifying Men’s fashion to help you look good by dressing well.
I’m currently sitting in a coffee shop not far from the entrance, keeping a count of how many gentlemen walk in with boots on.
So far, 0! Unbelievable.
I find it staggering at the number of men who aren’t rocking boots as part of their outfits.
In 2011, I purchased my first pair.
I remember them well, they were from ‘River Island’. Dark brown, around an inch & a half above the ankle with a side zip. I loved those!
I don’t have the exact picture of them (because it was so many years ago!), but I’ve managed to find a very close match to show you as an example (👇 below)
Up to that point, I had never paid proper attention to clothes styling and I remember being very excited about this change.
You may remember, it was also around this time that chinos/jeans tucked into boots was a trending look. A very cool one may I add! (👇 below)
I’m predicting that this trend will make a comeback! 🤷♂️
To help improve your styling, I’d recommend that you add a pair of boots or two to your wardrobe.
They are so versatile and can go with pretty much any outfit, be it casual or smart-casual. As long as you match them well to the rest of your outfit.
I’m always wearing boots in the fall and winter, you’ll never see me without them. Aside from what I wear to the gym, of course!
How to Choose Your Boots
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I talk a lot about the importance of purchasing your clothing pieces with the outfit in mind.
This allows you to always stay on point with style. In turn, helping you to look great and presentable in your outfits.
Similar to clothes, I’d advise you to choose your boots using this same principle. Don’t just purchase a pair based solely on their individual appeal.
Instead, decide beforehand which outfits they can be part of.
Here’s an example from my recent experience. Around 6 weeks ago, I purchased this light beige coat from ‘H&M’ (👇 below)
I already had a pair of boots. The problem was, they were brown. So I couldn’t match them that well with this light beige coat.
So I decided to hunt around for a pair of beige boots, and I came across these fabulous looking ones from ‘Office’. I decided to purchase a pair (👇 below)
Honestly, this is so easy to do. You can do it too.
If you’re unsure of which outfits to choose, have a browse online to see which ones you like the look of, then simply choose your boots that closely match with what you’ve seen.
This is exactly what I do!
I hope this has given you the confidence to start experimenting with your footwear.
If you have any questions, please let me know below. I’d be delighted to help!
See you next week 👋
